TechForce Center On MANDI Awards Shortlist

December 8, 2016 - The Milwaukee TechForce Training Center was named a finalist for the State Farm Building Blocks Award, one of the Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation (MANDIs) to be given out at a gala event on April 6, 2017. The announcement, along with the naming of 14 other finalists in five award categories, was held December 7, 2016 at Mr. J's Lounge, 4610 W. Fond Du Lac Avenue.
The MANDIs, sponsored by U.S. Bank in partnership with LISC Milwaukee, recognize individuals, organizations and projects that are improving conditions in central city neighborhoods. The State Farm Building Blocks Award recognizes a real estate project that enhances the community.
The TechForce Center is a new education, training and workforce development facility designed to connect individuals to rewarding and in-demand careers in technology fields.
The Center is supported by an innovative partnership between the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM), Adult Learning Center (ALC), Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), Employ Milwaukee, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Featuring new classrooms and teaching technology, TechForce is co-located with the ALC to provide direct pathways for graduates of ALC’s adult basic education programs into the technology-focused programs of MATC, Employ Milwaukee, MPS and other partners.
