ABOUT THE MILWAUKEE TECHFORCE TRAINING CENTER
Co-located with the Adult Learning Center (ALC) at 1916 N. 4th Street, construction of the TechForce Center was funded by a $1.2 million HUD Capital Fund Education and Training grant.

The TechForMilwaukee TechForce Training Center Renderingce Center is the result of a unique public/private partnership between HACM, Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), Employ Milwaukee (Milwaukee’s workforce investment board), the Adult Learning Center (ALC), and Milwaukee Public Schools. TechForce is co-located with the ALC on the campus of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, where ALC has worked since 1979 to help adults gain the basic academic skills necessary to earn a High School Equivalency Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma and succeed in careers and higher education.

The physical proximity between the programs at ALC and TechForce will create a synergy to help ensure that students keep moving up the educational ladder to their employment goals.  This strategy is further enhanced by the location of the programs within walking distance of over 500 public housing households as well as the certificate and degree programs of MATC. The TechForce Center will become an integral part of a literal pathway from low-income subsistence to family-supporting careers.

The TechForce Center is also a key element of Milwaukee’s new designation as a White House TechHire community. Milwaukee has committed to training 500 individuals for tech jobs and placing 600 people into employment in tech occupations by the end of 2020, and the TechForce Center will be a primary access point for individuals interested in this career pathway.

Led by high-quality instruction, case management and tech support services provided by MATC, the TechForce partnership also includes recruitment, job readiness, and youth educational activities provided by Employ Milwaukee, Milwaukee Public Schools, and others.
