The Housing Authority is fortunate to have received three Hope VI grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to revitalize Hillside Terrace, Parklawn and the Lapham Park Family Development, all of which needed extensive renovation. (Funding for the Lapham Park revitalization includes $9.6 million of equity generated from low-income tax credits.) The revitalization of these family developments included a reduction in both the density and the physical and social isolation of these communities, which are being reconnected to the surrounding neighborhoods. Renovation work at Hillside Terrace concluded in 1999, and the revitalization of Lapham Park and Parklawn will be completed in 2002.

HACM would like to revitalize Highland Park within the next five years. All of this revitalization is being done without any local tax dollars.
