The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) is launching a “Save Your Spot” campaign to ensure applicants on its Public Housing and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists have the opportunity to maintain their place on those waiting lists.
Waiting lists naturally become outdated over time as applicants move, secure housing through other means, or are no longer seeking assistance. Beginning at 8 a.m. on July 16, 2026, applicants currently on these waiting lists will be asked to log into HACM’s Rent Café applicant portal to confirm or update their contact information and indicate that they wish to remain on the waiting list. Applicants who do not complete the process by 5 p.m. on August 16, 2026, will be removed from the applicable waiting list and would need to reapply.
“This effort helps ensure our waiting lists remain accurate and up to date,” said Harold S. Ince Jr., secretary-executive director of HACM. “By asking applicants to confirm their continued interest and update their information, we can better connect families with housing opportunities as they become available.”
The campaign applies only to applicants currently on HACM’s Public Housing and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists. It is not a new application and will not affect an applicant’s current position on the waiting list, provided the required steps are completed by the deadline.
Applicants can complete the process by logging into the Rent Café applicant portal at myportal.hacm.org. Those who need assistance or require a reasonable accommodation may contact HACM for support. For more information, visit hacm.org/saveyourspot.
