Public Safety at HACM

The mission of the Public Safety Department of HACM is to proactively enhance the quality of life for all HACM locations, residents, visitors, and staff by working in cooperation with law enforcement and stakeholders to provide safe places for everyone to live and thrive.
The Public Safety Department plays a vital role in fulfilling this mission by working collaboratively with law enforcement, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure a secure and supportive environment for all.
Established in the early 1990s, HACM’s Public Safety Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, offering around-the-clock support and assistance. Our dedicated team responds to safety concerns, calls for maintenance and other services, and provides proactive security services to ensure the well-being of our communities. Our services include:
24/7 Dispatch Line: Residents can report concerns or request assistance at any time by calling (414) 286-5100.
On-Site Patrols: Public Safety Officers conduct vehicle patrols to maintain a visible and reassuring presence within our neighborhoods.
Responding to Calls for Service and Proactive Deployments: Officers respond to safety concerns and implement proactive measures to address emerging issues and maintain community safety.
Surveillance Monitoring: Our team monitors building surveillance systems and respond to medical, security, and safety alarms.
Community Engagement: Officers actively participate in Resident Organization meetings and collaborate with Housing Authority managers and residents to address safety concerns and implement effective crime prevention strategies.
HACM Public Safety Service Complaint Process
The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) is committed to ensuring all residents are treated with dignity and respect. If you believe that a member of the HACM Public Safety Department has acted improperly, failed to provide professional and adequate service, including conduct, you are encouraged to file a complaint. Your input helps us improve and maintain the quality of our services.
What is a complaint?
A complaint is a formal expression of dissatisfaction with the conduct of a HACM Public Safety Department member:
- Improper actions by HACM Public Safety personnel.
- Any behavior that fails to uphold your right to be treated with dignity and respect.
Who Can File a Complaint?
Complaints can be filed by:
- Residents, Visitors, or Staff of HACM.
- Authorized agents representing residents.
How to File a Complaint
You may file your complaint using the following methods:
- Online: Use the HACM Public Safety Complaint Submission Form.
- In-person: Visit the HACM Public Safety Office to file your complaint directly with a supervisor.
- Phone: Call the Public Safety Department at 414-286-5100 and request to speak with a supervisor.
